The Nursing Home Ombudsman Program helps residents and their family access quality care in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in our six county region. Ombudsmen can be called at (254)756-7822 or (800)252-2412 for confidential assistance with complaints, information on area facilities, and general concerns relating to residents' rights. Ombudsmen work closely with those who make regular inspections of long-term care facilities: Regulatory Services of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. If you or family members have any concerns about a nursing home or assisted living facility, a staff or volunteer ombudsman will discuss your concerns with you, investigate and observe, then make recommendations about possible solutions. After you have first attempted to resolve a problem with facility staff, an ombudsman is typically the fastest and most effective means to problem solving. In cases of abuse or neglect, complaints can be made to the Regulatory Services of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, (800)458-9858. This number is used for all types of complaints about nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Residents, family members, visitors, and ombudsmen may call. Are you Tough Enough to Care?
